Tyco found, at the end of 1976, that there was still a demand for bicentennial locomotives, so they hurried and put this version on the market as fast as they could. They cut every cost that they could in making this version. This locomotive still had the "76" decal on the front of the nose. There were no number pads on either the front or the rear of the locomotive. Yes, there were holes and indentations for them but they were never actually put on the locomotives. The cab had a red roof. The body still had the red, white, and blue stripes on the sides and the roof was a solid blue, like Version 5. Notice here, the colors were extremely bright and glossy. The blue stripe and the blue roof were extremely dark - almost like a black. This still had the Seal of the United States on the sides, however, the seals often flake off these locomotives. This was a result of the glossy paint that they used. They fixed the problem with the trucks that they had on version 5. However, TYCO was running out of parts and often the truck covers that were used were for three wheels instead of two. They were actually using parts from the larger 630 locomotives which were being manufactured in another part of the factory.
