Primarily used towards the end of 1976 and into 1977 this was sold as an individual piece or as part of the freight set.

This locomotive still had the "76" on the nose of the cab. The number pads on both the front were just a plain white - there were not number pads on the back of the locomotive. TYCO was trying to find ways to cut any cost that they could. This was getting towards the end of their existence. The cab still had a red roof, however, not the body had red, white, and blue stripes on the sides while the roof was now a solid blue. On this version, the colors were very dull - especially the roof. The Seal was still the Seal of the United States. The motor used in this version and in version 6 were not very good at all. Version 5 often had problems with the trucks becoming dislodged from the rest of the body. This Version # 5 and Version # 6 are the ones that you usually see in the TYCO catalogs.
