Introduced in 1976 as well. It was usually sold as an individual piece and not part of a train set.
This locomotive was the first in the series to have a "76" decal in the very front of the nose on the cab. The number pads on both the front and back had only number pads. The "4301" was printed on the pad but it was white like the rest of the pad. The cab had a red roof, while the rest of the body had the red and white stripes which went from the base all the way across the roof. Notice, the paints had started to become darker and bolder with more definitive lines between colors. The seal was still the Seal of the United States. Finally, the motors starting with this version 4 were going downhill and were not as good as the ones used in the earlier ones.
