Introduced in late 1975 and was also usually sold as part of a freight train set.

This locomotive still had a blue stripe across the nose and around the front cab. The number pads on both the front and back had "4301" in dark letters on a white background. The cab had a red roof, while the rest of the body had the red and white stripes which went from the base all the way across the roof. Notice the paint. TYCO was experimenting with different paints to try to get the best one. On version 2, the paint was not very good and is quite fuzzy around the edges. Version 2 had no handrails on the locomotive. There were holes in the body for them but the rails were never included in the boxes. The SEAL was changed to the SEAL OF THE UNITED STATES which remained on all of the remaining versions.Version 2 is really more rare than Version 1 because it was only made for a very short time. I have found that these are fairly hard to find.
