Tyco/Mantua made four different sets of their bicentennial boxcars and six bicentennial state boxcars before production stopped. These contrasting or reverse color cars are the most difficult to find. Tyco did not have the Bicentennial Committees permission to use there symbol and these cars were recalled from stores.

They also made three different sets of red, white, and blue cars that had just a few slightly different features. One set has short red strips, one set has long red strips, and the third set has long red strips and small blue data blocks with road number information.
